Duckpool; a wild beach for adventurous types

One of North Cornwall’s wildest beaches, this cove is north of Bude and Steeple Point Cliff overlooks the sands. It is a quiet beach, and those who enjoy a less mainstream option look to the seclusion Duckpool provides. We strongly discourage surfing and swimming on this beach, because the waters contain sharp rocks and the strong currents that can easily whip you away. This beach is not lifeguarded, even during the summer season.

However, sea fishing and photography are some of the activities that our guests most commonly enjoy on this beach. Many top off their day with an ice cream from the retro van that appears on Duckpool seasonally. The beach is located where the wooded Combe Valley meets the sea. A river flows down Coombe Valley and emerges at the top of the beach, which is where the name ‘Duckpool’ has come from.
